A Week in the Life (v.2016.1)

Holy crap!!!  I haven't done a phone photo upload!  Let's try and play a little catch up (over the next couple of posts)...  Which I'll separate by months -- so here's January.

My pretty girl wanted to see what her Elsa braid looked like.

Front and back, of course

Our big blizzard left us a TON of snow.

This was our back door!!!!

We started our first home project in January.  The previous owners had put on an addition -- which included the play room downstairs and our current master bedroom upstairs.  They built off of the fourth bedroom upstairs, but utilize that room.  Instead they built a hallway and left the old section of the bedroom open.  It was a waste of space, so we decided to close in that room and knock out a doorway through our current closet in the Master for a grand walk-in closet.  This is the view from the top landing of the stairs.  There is no doorway at the end of the hallway where I am taking the photo.  So trying to use that as a dressing space would make me walk down the hallway in my skivvies and no guest wants to see that.

This is taken from the large doorway that you see in the above photo.  You can see we already had knocked out the closet door.

This is the view from our bedroom of our new potential walk-in.

Cuteness overload

Total cuteness overload

Such a helper

Can you spot the Munky?

My parents came out for Fish's birthday and my dad built the drawers that I had envisioned in the old closet space.  They turned out amazing!  You'll have to wait until the February update to see what the final project looks like.  But I'll spoil it a little by saying that it looks AH-MAZING!

Iowa Easter

There has been a lot going on behind the scenes in the past couple of months.  My best friend of forever moved up to PA to start a new adventure in Philadelphia.  She is starting her new job today in the city and I'm extremely proud of her.  But before she started her new job, we decided to make a short(ish) trip to Iowa to spend some time in our roots before her new life began.

And of course, there was an Easter egg hunt. Of course.  We had a fabulous time catching up with family and friends and the time spent there was absolutely soul-rejuvenating.  I didn't get my camera out as much as I wanted to while there.  But I did take some.

Crocodile Rock

I remember when rock was young.  Me & Suzy had so much fun...  Finn & Fish had an Elton John night one night and the results were amazing!  Lots of singing and dancing happened that night!  And I have to say that both of them were striking the disco pose like they were born to do it!

We also took Fish's passport photo that night.  And Finn was the test shot.  This photo of her is everything that is Finn.  Messy hair.  Big doe eyes.  And ultimate sass.  Fish photo turned out spectacular!  I know that I'm surely biased, but man, my kids are cute.

And finally, that night, Fish was climbing all over E.  So I snapped a couple of photos that have quickly turned into my favorites of all time.

This photo is IT for me.  The cuteness slays me.

The next Van Gogh (of nails)

So there is a new pastime in our house.  It's very girly and it's something that Finn absolutely LOVES to do.  Any guesses?!?!?!?  If you guessed fingernail polish, you are absolutely correct!  My sister in law gave her a bottle of yellow fingernail polish for Christmas.  It was REAL fingernail polish.  Finn immediately made Papa take off his socks and painted his toe-nails (which are probably still yellow to this day).  Since Christmas, I bought her a "little girl" set of fingernail polish.  It's a perfect set for her -- because it peels off.  She has since painted my nails multiple times.  The first time, I forgot to pull out the real yellow nail polish and had chipped yellow nails for at least two weeks.  No one is saved from getting fingernail polish (except Tara who has an actual manicure done).  Fish doesn't get it as often, bc she "doesn't like him".  But one morning, both Fish & Daddy got in on the spa day.

It's a bird! It's a plane!

It's SUPERGIRL!!!!  At Finn's preschool, they have extra activities after school called Fun Frolics.  February's theme was Kid Fitness.  Some of the activities they did were American Ninja Warrior camp and zumba.  But they also had a superhero camp.  And the kids were able to wear a superhero outfit to school if they wanted.  Well, we just happened to have a Supergirl costume that fit the bill.  She loved it!  When she got home that day, I asked her what they did during camp.  And she said that they practiced their superhero poses.  So of course, I had to get out my camera and document!

This one I think she made up on the fly!
